I am considering setting up a web page of contacts for small independent floor planners around the UK. Still only at the concept stage, I hope this would give easier access to the large number of individuals working as "architectural technicians", and highlight the advantages they can offer. Initially I plan for a simple free listings of contacts and links, but may consider upgrading the facility to offer online ordering with deposit payment (with small commission chargeable), and possibly an online "completed plan pick-up on receipt of balance" facility (again small commission chargeable). It would make handling those one-off instructions a lot easier. If you have any thoughts about the idea, or wish to be included on any such listing, then drop me an email at enquiries (at) floorplansnorth.co.uk. I would like to restrict this to only individuals or very small partnerships, as the larger providers already have the purchasing power to reach their markets. I would also like to restrict this to established planners, i.e. those aware of the legislative framework under which we operate, carry indemnity and liability insurance, and have some agreed standard of service. I am afraid I am not able to follow up speculative applications for jobs etc from those who have clearly not taken the courtesy to read our website properly. (Take note the likes of the kitchen porter who emailed his CV to every local company contact he could find online!)
